Bueltel, Nelson Tabbed with Weekly Honors

WATERTOWN, Wis. -- For their stellar performances from last week, Lexi Bueltel and Tyler Nelson have been named as Student-Athletes of the Week.

Bueltel, a senior from Stephenson, Michigan, earned the honor for Division II women's volleyball of the National Christian College Athletic Association after she led the Sabercats to a 4-win week. Bueltel continued her noteworthy senior season, as she led the Sabercats with 38 kills while amassing 15 digs, 9 aces, and 8 blocks.

The Sabercats' Women's Volleyball Team had a notable week, as they swept Silver Lake, Marian, and Rockford before topping Illinois Tech in 4 sets.

Bueltel's honor is the second of the season for MBU Women's Volleyball, as Katie Bender earned Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the first week of September.

Nelson, a sophomore midfielder out of Raleigh, North Carolina, earned the weekly honor for men's soccer in the Association of Division III Independents. Nelson scored a dramatic game-winning goal in the Sabercats' comeback win over Ripon last Tuesday, and he added another goal in MBU's 2-3 loss to Grace Bible College on Friday.

Those two goals finished Nelson's 3-game scoring streak, and the North Carolinian ranks second in goal-scoring on the team so far this season.

Nelson and the Men's Soccer Team return to action today in an all-AD3I contest with Illinois Tech. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
