Sponable Lands Double Weekly Award
WATERTOWN, Wis. -- After a productive week at center forward, Alexis Sponable has been named as the Student-Athlete of the Week for both the Association of Division III Independents and the National Christian College Athletic Association.
Sponable, a sophomore from Middleville, Mich., added to her 16-goal freshman year with a three-goal week to begin her sophomore season. Sponable netted a late game-winner to give the Sabercats a 1-0 win at Lakeland University last Tuesday. Two days later, Sponable was at it again, scoring a brace against North Central (Minn.) in the Sabercats' 6-1 win.
The sophomore finished the week with seven shots, three shots on goal, and three goals.
The Sabercats have just one game this week, as they travel to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to take on the Marian University Sabres. Kickoff is scheduled for Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Find details at mbusabercats.com/composite.
