Shepard Snags Award

Shepard Snags Award

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Joel Shepard was a crucial part of an undefeated week for the Sabercats last week, and the National Christian College Athletic Association has named the senior as the student-athlete of the week.

Shepard scored two goals off of headers last week, nodding in crosses from Tyler Nelson against Faith Baptist and against Ripon. Shepard's contributions fueled a 4-0 win over the Eagles on Tuesday and a 1-1 draw with the Red Hawks to conclude the week. In the three-game week, Shepard fired off six shots and three shots on target and helped anchor a back line that secured two shutouts and just a 0.33 goals-allowed average.

Shepard's goal against Ripon brings him to a team-leading three goals this season, and four Sabercats are right behind Shepard with two goals apiece.

Behind Shepard's stellar performances, the Sabercats are now 3-3-1 on the season and will look to vault above .500 with a win tomorrow against Moody.
