Sabercats Swept by Inferno

MILWAUKEE --- The Sabercats were no match for the red-hot Inferno of Alverno College this afternoon, as MBU lost by the score of 8-0 and 10-0 in two games that were shortened because of the run rule.

With the losses, the Sabercats fall to 2-6 on the year while the Inferno improve to 6-6. Brooke Campbell and Harmony Bailey were in the circle for the losses.

The Sabercats managed two hits in the first game, as Brooke Campbell singled and Allison Epperly hit a double to right-center. Despite putting five runners on base, the Sabercats could not push anyone across for a run.

Alverno had to wait until the third inning to score, but they took advantage of their momentum in the at-bat to score four runs in the bottom half of the inning. Alverno went on to add a run in the fifth and three runs in the sixth to end the game prematurely due to the run rule. (0-8)

In game two, Alverno had their way early on, as they recorded five runs in the bottom of the first inning and three more in the second. The Sabercats tried to answer, but ultimately left six runners on base in game two.

After Alverno posted a run in each of the last two innings, they had sealed the sweep of the doubleheader.

The Sabercats' next test will be this Saturday at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Ill. The first pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
