Sabercats' Comeback Comes up Short at Emmaus
DUBUQUE, Iowa --- The Sabercats boasted a balanced offensive effort against the Eagles of Emmaus Bible College but fell by two points despite having five players reach double-digit points. Alexis Johnson recorded her first double-double of the season

How it Happened
- 1st Half
- Amanda Rodriguez led the Sabercats in a high-scoring first quarter by registering six points. After the Sabercats jumped out to a 6-5 lead, the Eagles posted an eight-point run to take hold of the lead.
- A layup from Rodriguez tied the game back up at 17, but the hosts ended the quarter with seven straight points to take the advantage after the opening 10 minutes. (17-24)
- Hanna Glaze knocked down her second three-pointer of the night to get the Sabercats started in the second, but the Eagles had their way in the middle stages of the second quarter, as they increased their lead to 13 and held that advantage until the last couple minutes, when four points from the Sabercats reduced the lead back to single-digits entering halftime. (29-38)
- Glaze and Rodriguez led the Sabercats with eight points apiece in the first half.
- 2nd Half
- The Eagles maintained their moderate lead until late on in the third quarter, when the Sabercats went on an 8-2 run with points from Hannah May and Karley Johnson, knocking the Eagles' lead down to four points. (42-46)
- A layup from Katie Bender with two seconds on the clock made it a one-possession game going into the fourth quarter. (49-52)
- The fourth quarter finished in dramatic fashion, as a late comeback from the Sabercats took the game down to the wire. Points from Alexis, Karley, and Kelsey Johnson kept the Sabercats close in the middle stretches of the quarter, as the sisters combined for the first 12 Sabercat points.
- The Johnson's efforts were not enough to take the lead, but they kept the game close. In the final minute, the Sabercats found themselves down 61-69. Despite six points from Hanna Glaze in the final minute, the Sabercats could not pull in front.
- Emilee Hansel made a layup in the final seconds, but the Eagles held on to the two-point lead to win 73-71.
- Five Sabercats finished with with double-digit points: Hanna Glaze, Alexis, Karley, and Kelsey Johnson; and Amanda Rodriguez.
