CHICAGO -- The Sabercats were handed their second straight 7-0 defeat tonight, as they fell on the road to the Scarlet Hawks of Illinois Tech.
The Scarlet Hawks' defense was stellar throughout the 90 minutes, and they registered 3 players with a brace of goals each.
The precise Scarlet Hawks placed 2 shots in the back of the net in the first half before scoring 5 goals in the first 30 minutes of the second half. Julia Taliana, Gillian Larsen and Katie Hoefgen each scored 2 goals, and Taliana and Hoefgen both added 2 assists on the night.
Hannah Anderson worked overtime, as she made 16 saves in the all-AD3I clash.
"This sounds funny when you look at the score, but I am really proud of the way we played today," said Coach Dave Anderson after the game. "We set some performance goals as a team and met some of them tonight, so that's a positive to take out of this. Other players stepped up in a big way tonight as we were missing Ali Hernandez, who's one of our key players. IIT is a quality side, so it was a great challenge for us tonight."
Next up for the Sabercats is Greenville University, who will come to MBU Saturday for a 4 p.m. Parents' Day contest. Catch all the details at mbusabercats.com/composite.
