All-AD3I Selections Announced

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- The Association of Division III Independents has released the 2018-19 winter All-Independent Teams, and 10 Sabercats have been named as the best in the AD3I by member schools.

Kelsey Johnson highlights the student-athlete selections, as the junior was named as the Association's Player of the Year for the second year in a row.

Johnson passed 1,000 career points in the NCCAA National 3rd-Place Game, and she led the Sabercats with a team-best 16.1 points per game this season. Johnson shot 45.3 percent from the floor and 34.6 percent from downtown, and she led the Association in points (416), rebounds (250), field-goal percentage (45.3), and free-throw percentage (78.0).

Johnson was joined on the First Team by Men's Basketball standouts Jonathan Book, David Lerma, and Stephen Wilkerson.

AD3I Second Team selections were Callie Morrison, Karley Johnson, Aaron Sanders, Rob Sonnenberg, and Rosa Torres.

Nine student-athletes is the most that Maranatha has ever placed on the winter All-Independent selections since Maranatha joined the AD3I for the 2013-14 season.

As an exclamation point, Coach Clayton Morrison was named as the AD3I Coach of the Year after leading the Sabercats to an Association-best 19-7 record and a third-place finish at NCCAA Nationals.
