Rankin Secures Weekly Award
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Cameron Rankin was just nine seconds off of his PR last weekend, and the Association of Division III Independents has awarded him the weekly award for the week of September 24.
Rankin, a senior from Zionsville, Indiana, finished 15th as he cruised to a 28:41 time in the men's 8K race at the Warrior Invitational last Saturday. The event was run at Greenfield Park in West Allis, Wisconsin, and was hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College.
The Sabercat Men finished 8th of 10 at the event, and Rankin led the pack all the way through the tape, finishing 15th in the race.
Rankin's PR of 28:32 came at NCCAA Nationals last year, and that time lands him in the top five in Maranatha history. The senior will look to close in on the all-time record in the remaining four events this year.
The Sabercats will return to action Friday, as they look to compete at the Bethel Invitational in South Bend, Indiana. The men's 8K will begin at 6:00 p.m. Eastern.
