Round Two
GREENVILLE, S.C. -- For the second week in a row, the Sabercats have earned two Student-Athlete of the Week awards from the NCCAA.
Braeden Hansel and Alexis Sponable were both key figures in the Sabercats' weekend wins, and Hansel marks his first weekly honor while Sponable collects the accolade for the second week in a row.
Hansel made the most of two free-kick opportunities in the Sabercats' 3-1 win at Lincoln Christian last weekend. Hansel's second, a 22-yard arrow, sealed the win against a determined Red Lions squad. On the day, Hansel registered five shots, three on frame, and secured the win from his defensive position.
Sponable compiled three goals and two assists in the Sabercats' 1-1 week last week. The Michigan native assisted in the Sabercats' narrow 3-2 loss to Northwestern (the defending UMAC runners-up) before netting a hat-trick in the Sabercats' 6-1 win at Lincoln Christian.
The senior becomes just the second student-athlete in program history to break 50 career goals, as the hat-trick pushes her to 51 in her four-year career.
