WATERTOWN, Wis. -- The 2022 season for Maranatha Softball is just two days away, and a group of experienced student-athletes and Coach Rob Thompson are eager to finally get outside and into competitive games as they look forward to a wild month and a half.

The Sabercats open the season Friday at 3:00 p.m. Central in a four-game weekend series with North Central University. Most teams have finished preseason and are already in a game rhythm, as the Rams already have nine games under their belt.

But Coach Thompson and the Sabercats are excited about what lies ahead.

"We're excited to see how the 2022 team is able to compete," said head coach Rob Thompson. "It's evident that we have the ability to compete at a higher level than recent seasons. [We've] bonded well, with every practice being productive. The players are working every day to improve their softball skills and knowledge, but even more importantly growing in their friendships on and off the field.

"Our theme for the season is 'Playing with Power', with daily Biblical challenges to have power spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally. If at the end of the season we can testify that above all else, we have ultimately honored our Savior, we will have achieved our ultimate goal, “to the Praise of His Glory”, Praise Him!"

LEADERSHIP

Head Coach Rob Thompson returns for his 16th season at the helm and is rejoined by assistant coach Megan Cleghorn. Malia Bullock and Dani Chaney will co-lead as Captains.
