Bumpus Named North Region MVP
ELLENDALE, N.D. — The National Christian College Athletic Association has named Mattie Bumpus as the Division II North Region Player of the Year for the 2021 season.
Bumpus, a senior from Covington, Indiana, was a driving force for the Sabercats this year, logging 236 kills and 63 blocks in just 23 matches (81 sets) to lead the Sabercats to an 11-15 record.
This marks the sixth time that a student-athlete from Maranatha has earned the award in the past seven seasons, and this is a first for Bumpus, who earned North Region 1st-Team honors last year and an All-American selection.
