THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF THE MARANATHA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SABERCATS

Ministry is at the heart of everything we do at Maranatha, including athletics. Because nearly 25 percent of our students take part in intercollegiate athletics, all of our student-athletes are already involved in local church work. Others find avenues for ministry through their student societies. Our sports teams are another option for Christian service, and many of our coaches and athletes find effective ways to show Christ’s love through team outreach activities.

Some examples

Volleyball has conducted clinics in Germany and Guam and annually participates in roadside cleanup as a community service project.
Baseball has conducted clinics as part of a missions trip to the Dominican Republic (click here to read of a recent excursion through the words of Gary Garrison).
Cross Country and Women's Soccer have ministered in various churches.
All teams participate in community outreach as part of the NCCAA postseason.
Men's Soccer has led free clinics for Watertown junior high and high school students. A group of players, the Tonal Defenders, travels to provide singing, preaching, testimonies and instrumental music in area churches.
