Sabercats take 5th and 7th at WPCC, Holbrook Selected to All-State Team

KENOSHA, Wis. - Katie Holbrook posted another top 10 finish at the Wisconsin Private College Championships hosted by Carthage College, as the Sabercats Women's Cross Country Team cruised to a fifth-place finish. On the Men's side, the Sabercats finished in seventh out of seven squads. Holbrook was named to the All-State Women's Cross Country Team for Wisconsin with her sixth-place finish.

The Basics

Highlights - Women

  • Holbrook was a tad slower than she has been in recent weeks, as the three-year runner crossed the line at 24:38 (a 6:36/mile pace).
  • Close behind Holbrook (as usual) where Sarah Vander Pluym (36th place - 26:43.2) and Kimberly Richerson (39th place - 26:52.1).
  • Anna Brown was not far behind, as she posted a season-best time of 27:30 and a top-50 finish.
  • Madelyn Hansel set a PR for the second consecutive week, as the Watertown native ran a 28:53.9 6K.

Highlights - Men

  • Kurt Wagner set another PR at 31:04, as the Sandusky, Michigan native tallied a personal best time for the second consecutive week, and finished as the Sabercats' second runner with a 32nd-place finish.
  • Cameron Rankin was the pack's leader, as he came in at 28th place with a 30:47 time.
  • Wagner and Kruit were the only runners who finished in the top-half of the pack. Josh Kruit was next across the line, but the junior from Hartford, Wisconsin came in with a 32:04 time, which was more than a minute and a half slower than his time last week.

Up Next

  • The two teams will travel on Friday, October 21st to Winneconne, Wisconsin to compete in the Oshkosh Open hosted by UW-Oshkosh at Lake Breeze Golf Club.
  • The Men's Team will begin the day with a 1:30 8K followed by the Women's 6K at 2:15 PM.
