The Maranatha Baptist University Athletic Department announced [May 11, 2022] that Rob Fuller will step in as head coach of Maranatha Men's Basketball beginning with the 2022-23 season.

Fuller was a two-time NCCAA All-American at Pillsbury Baptist Bible College ('04), and he helped the Comets to an NCCAA Regional title in 2001 as part of a four-year career under head coach and NCCAA Hall of Fame member, Keith Champion. Fuller finished in the Pillsbury program top five with 1,643 career points and was a three-year starter, team captain, and team MVP. He steps into his first head coach role after staying in the game for multiple years as an assistant, and he enters his role at Maranatha after serving for the last 18 years in pastoral ministry.

Fuller is no stranger to Maranatha, as he graduated with an MA in Biblical Counseling. He will join the Maranatha staff this summer as Dean of Men while serving in the coaching role.

"I am thrilled and excited to have the opportunity to coach the wonderful men of MBU Basketball," Fuller said. "I look forward to developing an atmosphere of discipline, hard work, dedication, and integrity. [I want to bring] a culture of family, camaraderie, and mutual spiritual edification. I believe we can bring God glory through basketball when those things are present.

"My greatest strength in any endeavor is that of connecting with people. I strive to make relationships and to spur others on to greater things through those close relationships."

"We're excited to have Rob Fuller coming to MBU," said Maranatha Athletic Director, Rob Thompson. "Though transitions can be tough at times, we believe Rob is 'the guy' for MBU Men's Basketball. He has a strong playing resume and quality coaching experience. Rob immediately connected with the team before they left for the summer, and we are confident moving forward in his ability to recruit, develop, mentor, and retain high-quality student-athletes."

"At Maranatha, we are intentional about developing leaders," said Maranatha CEO, Dr. Matthew Davis. "The leadership development program is woven into the fabric of every activity and endeavor. Athletic competition provides a fantastic opportunity for coaches to mentor and develop their players for excellence on the court and in life. Rob's proven track record of intentional personal discipleship fits perfectly with the culture of Sabercats Athletics. His role as the Dean of Men will expand his influence throughout the student body as he ministers through preaching, discipleship, counseling, and administration. I look forward to serving the Lord with such a dynamic and multi-talented man of God."

Fuller currently lives in Kansas and celebrates his 20th wedding anniversary this month with his wife, Heidi, and their five children.
