BELOIT, Wis. --  The Sabercats' bid at repeating an away win at Beloit College was put on hold by the determined Buccaneers, who put 4 goals past the Sabercats to secure a 4-0 win at Strong Athletic Complex. With the loss, the Sabercats fall back to 1-2 to begin the 2017 season.

Beloit wasted no time in scoring goals, as they opened the scoring in the 9th minute courtesy of Jose Gutierrez. Beloit then followed the opener up with another goal just 6 minutes later, when Freddy Widmer tucked a breakaway finish inside the right post. The scored would remain 2-0 until the second half.

The Bucs were right back at it after the break, as their third goal came just 2 minutes into the second half. Danny O'Leary nodded home his finish, and it was Guttierez who sent the ball in. Just 10 minutes later, Guttierez had his final influence on the scoresheet, as he bagged his second goal of the day with a deflected direct free kick from just outside the box.

"It was a hard-fought game," said Coach Jeff Pill. "We did not execute well with some little things, but we gradually got better in each half. I think Asa [St. Lawrence], Brett [Cournoyer], 'Nakers' [Nathan Akers] and Calvin Perkins played very well. We did not play as well as we could, and we are learning every game."

The Sabercats' next test will be at home against Lakeland University next Tuesday at 4 p.m. Catch coverage details of the game at mbusabercats.com/composite.
