All-Decade MVP: Jason Garrison
WATERTOWN, Wis. -- Maranatha Athletics is thrilled to recognize Jason Garrison as the all-decade MVP for Maranatha Baseball.

Garrison's career stats came when Maranatha competed in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) - a conference that included perennial NCAA DIII powerhouse, Concordia Chicago. When Garrison was a sophomore, Maranatha took home the 2010 NCCAA DII Midwest Regional title to advance to NCCAA DII World Series in Mason, Ohio. It was a year that the team was really clicking.
"[The NCCAA World Series] has to be one of the best sports memories of my life," Garrison said. "We played clean baseball and had amazing chemistry that year. Everyone on our roster and coaching staff played a crucial role, down to organizing the bags to fit in the back of the van. I remember we put a nice game together and came within an inning of beating the top-ranked team in the country. We were pretty disappointed at the time, but looking back, I miss all those guys and the camaraderie we had. We really caught lightning in a bottle that year."
Since the NCCAA discontinued regional competition for DII and combined the divisions for the national championship, Garrison's contributions fueled the only title in program history to date.
Garrison also had the unique privilege of playing college ball with his dad, Coach Gary Garrison, as head coach. It's a memory that Jason doesn't take for granted.
"My favorite thing about baseball at Maranatha was playing for my dad," Jason said. "He introduced me to baseball before tee-ball and it was an honor to play 4 years for him at that level. He’s a man of integrity. Loves the game. He taught us great life lessons (like how to not get cheated at a buffet) and made us laugh a lot. Anyone that’s been able to play for my dad is a better man for it.
