Sabercats Trebled by Spirited Buccaneers

WATERTOWN, Wis. - The Sabercats were bested by the Buccaneers of Beloit College, who scored three goals on a lackluster Sabercat squad on a Friday afternoon in Watertown. With the win, Beloit ties the series between the two teams at 3-3 since they met in 2010.

The Basics

  • Result: Sabercats 0-3 Buccaneers
  • Venue: Maranatha Baptist University
  • Attendance: 110
  • Sabercats: now 2-10, Buccaneers: now 5-5-1

How it Happened

  • 21' - After the Buccaneers created early chances but were left begging, they finally capitalized after Emmett Hendrickson found himself free on the back post to calmly finish into the open corner (0-1)
  • 62' - The Buccaneers doubled their advantage roughly midway through the second half when Isaiah Turner-Wyatt found himself on the end of a breakaway to finish neatly into the bottom-right-hand corner. Turner-Wyatt proved to be a major difference maker, as he scored one and set up the other two (0-2)
  • 69' - Just seven minutes later, the Buccaneers had their final say when Andreas Piepenburg placed the ball in a gaping net on the rebound from Turner-Wyatt's initial effort (0-3)

From Coach Pill

  • "I think it was a less-than-inspired effort today so we have to take a step back. I think we were not as crisp as we have been leading up to this point. Caleb Hockema played a good game while playing his first 90 minutes as a freshman, but overall we had a mediocre effort. We look forward to turning things around tomorrow against Lawrence."
