No-Mans Land Loss: Sabercats Lose to Brooklyn in Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Sabercats clashed with the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College for the first time in their history, and matched the New Yorkers well, but not well enough to come away with the result. Julie Roer and Bethany Wright put shots on frame, but the Sabercats could not complete the offensive puzzle on the night, falling 0-3.

The Basics

  • Result: Sabercats 0-3 Bulldogs
  • Location: Whitewater, Wis.
  • Attendance: 83
  • Sabercats: now 1-2, Bulldogs: now 1-3

How it Happened

  • 18' - The Bulldogs took nearly 20 minutes to crack the Sabercat defense, but finally broke the deadlock after a well-placed corner kick found the head of Cansu Usta (0-1)
  • 57' - After a midfield turnover by the Sabercats, the Bulldogs countered through the heart of the Sabercat defense to increase the lead to two (0-2)
  • 87' - It took the Bulldogs until the final three minutes to make it a three-goal cushion. After another corner was whipped into the Sabercat box, a Bulldog grabbed a loose ball on the top of the box and finished a well-placed effort that sailed just under the crossbar (0-3)

From Coach Anderson

  • "We came up against a strong physical side. We battled well for the most part and controlled portions of the game. We also leaned on some players in new positions so the growth even within the game for the girls was positive."
