WATERTOWN, Wis. -- The Maranatha Women's Basketball Team returns to the floor tomorrow afternoon with a young squad, eager to make some noise for the 2021-22 season.

This team has undergone heartbreak at the recent NCCAA National Championships, and with new faces in the crowd, they'll be looking to get back in business with a fresh perspective. The losses still sting for Callie Morrison and the rest of the upperclassmen, but the new faces will be looking to renew the postseason energy with a bit of a different feel.

Coach Clayton Morrison returns to the helm for what will be his 29th season in charge. Other key pieces to the season are highlighted below.

AT A GLANCE

  • Seven student-athletes return to the roster
  • Seven student-athletes suit up in Maranatha colors for the first time
  • The team opens play tomorrow (November 13) at Northland (Wis.)
  • NCCAA Regionals will be held in Watertown on the weekend of February 24-26
  • NCCAA DII Nationals will return to Joplin, Missouri, March 9-12

LEADERSHIP

Callie Morrison steps into a crucial lead role on the court. Morrison has averaged 16.6 points per game, amassing 1,145 career points in just three seasons. She's added 340 assists and 187 steals for good measure, and the team will lean heavily on Morrison's experience, excellence, and leadership as the 2021-22 season gets going.

Besides Calle in the captain role is Katelyn Morrison (no relation), who returns for her third season in Maranatha colors. Katelyn averaged 9.2 points per game last year and will look to provide offensive stability once again in the 2021-22 season.
