Sabercats Fall to Slugging Stars

LEAD

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. -- The Sabercats dropped their first game in over two weeks on Thursday night to Dominican 23-1.

Kyle Cummins drove a double to the wall and Micah Bailey drilled a groundball through the middle for the Sabercats' only two hits.

OVERVIEW

  • Results: Maranatha 1-23 Dominican (7 innings)
  • Venue: Wintrust Field
  • Location: Schaumburg, Ill.
  • Attendance: 50
  • Records: MBU (0-5), DU (11-6)

STORY

The Sabercats took the field for the first time in over two weeks last night, and it showed in the first inning as home runs and errors terrorized the Maranatha defense, leading to a nine-run first for the Stars. A couple of innings later, the Stars put up ten runs on nine hits to seal the game early.

After two hitless innings prior, Micah Bailey singled up the middle in the third to give Maranatha their first baserunner. Bailey would eventually score the Sabercats' only run on a wild pitch. The other hit was a massive double that Kyle Cummins drove to the left-center field wall, but he was stranded at second base.
