ELGIN, Ill. -- Maranatha was thrown off their rhythm today, taking a 40-68 loss to the hard-working Judson University Eagles.

Callie Morrison led Maranatha with nine points, eight rebounds, and six assists, but the Sabercats were out-gunned by their NAIA/NCCAA DI opponents in Illinois.

STORY

The story of the first half was Judson's suffocating defense, which limited the Sabercats to just 10 points through the first 15 minutes of the game. Maranatha got up to 19 but halftime, but they had to battle through 15 turnovers and a 25 percent shooting performance. At the break, Judson led 33-19.

The story of the second half was hardly different from the first: Judson's resolute defending kept the Sabercats out of a rhythm, both in shooting and in how they moved the ball. When it was all said and done, Maranatha compiled just a 26.4 shooting performance, turning the ball over 21 times in the 40-minute event. Judson's Sydnie Wolf (18 points) and and Daija Pruitt (12 points) did the bulk of the scoring for the hosts.

Morrison was joined at the top of the scoring charts by Jacklyn Simpson and Katelyn Schultzwho registered a respectve nine and eight points for the Blue and Gold.
