LEAD
WATERTOWN, Wis. -- Maranatha fell in the home-opening doubleheader against Cardinal Stritch last Friday. They couldn't get the bats going offensively which resulted in losses of 0-8 (6 innings) & 0-16 (5 innings).

STORY
Maranatha couldn't find their way out of their recent hitting slump last Friday. In the first game of the Sabercats' home-opener, Cardinal Stritch pitcher, Peyton Lowden, gave up only one hit which came from Lindsay Mikkelson who singled off a grounder to third.
While Maranatha's defense stayed fairly clean, giving up no more than two runs in an inning, they were unable to answer back at the bat. The Wolves took the first game after 6 innings, 8-0.
The start of the second game did not go in favor of the Sabercats as they struggled to get out of the first inning. Cardinal Stritch crossed home plate 13 times before Maranatha was finally able to put a stop to it.
From that point on, the Sabercats only allowed the Wolves three more runs over the next four innings. A tremendous improvement. But once again, Maranatha could get themselves on base with only one hit in the second game which came from Ashley Nerat, who singled with a ball hit over second base.
Cardinal Stritch took game two after 5 innings, 16-0.
Moving forward, Maranatha plans to put more focus on their batting in hopes of getting out of their recent hitting slump.
