Gauging the 5K

THE STORY

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Sabercats Women's Cross Country team got their first taste of a 5K in an official competition this year, and they all finished within a minute of each other for the second week in a row.

Alicyn Wigdal paced the Sabercats for the first time this season, as she clocked in with a time of 23:02. Sierra John and Anna Heins were right behind Wigdal and finished within five seconds of each other, and Katie Jean Lingle continued to show her quality with a 23:59 finish.

Due a technological difficulty, Madelyn Hansel was not officially recorded but was credited with an unofficial time of 24 minutes flat. Because of this, the Sabercats were not credited with an official team finish.

Taylor University dominated the event with five runners inside the top 10. Taylor finished with a team score of just 29 points, and their next-closest competitor (Aquinas College) finished with 59 points. Alexis Miller (Aquinas) crossed the finish line first overall with a 5K time of 18:04.
