WATERTOWN, Wis. -- The Sabercats' troubles were not out of sight this afternoon, as they fell 4-0 to Lincoln College (NAIA) on a snowy, windy parents' day.

The northwest wind exceeded 30 miles per hour throughout the game, but it seemed to be always blowing in the visitors' favor, as they scored two goals in each half to take home the decisive win.

  • Result: Maranatha 0-4 Lincoln
  • Venue: Maranatha Baptist University
  • Location: Watertown, Wis.
  • Attendance: 79
  • Records: MBU (4-11-0), LC (6-5-0)

Ignacio Ximenez opened the scoring with his first of two goals on the day. The midfielder found space around 25 yards out and hit a left-footed knuckler that hit the top of the post before going in. Ximenez's bomb came just 11 minutes into the game, and it caught the Sabercats off guard.

With the halftime break in sight, Adrian Roman scored a decisive second goal, as he dribbled into the right side of the Sabercats' box and whipped a quick shot to the near post. Blink, and you would've missed it. Going into the halftime break, it was 2-0 Lynx.

MBU had some chances in the first half, as Tyler Nelson and Nathan Campbell served in some dangerous dead balls, but the Lynx defense kept the goal free of any lasting damage.

Ximenez found his second goal and Lincoln's third about halfway through the second act. Roman sent Ximenez into the Sabercats' box with a carefully-weighted through ball, and Ximenez finished from a tight angle to make it 3-0. The fourth goal came with just over three minutes left when Aleck Bailey tapped in a loose ball off a corner kick.

  • Ximenez: 9 shots, 5 on target, 2 goals
  • Roman: 6 shots, 1 goal, 1 assist
  • Andrew Taylor: 7 saves in the loss
  • Series: this was the first time the two teams have met
  • Parents' Day: Since 2010, the Sabercats have gone 6-2-0 on Parents' Day
