STORY

While Maranatha wasn't able to get a win, they finished the season with a couple well played games against Mount Mary. Both teams started with three quick outs in the first inning, keeping the score at zero. While the Sabercats were able to get things going at the top of the inning, getting a runner in scoring position, they were unable to execute, leaving Ashley Nerat and Bethany Searle stranded on base.

With two outs already on the board, Mount Mary's Sam Allen, gave her team a couple runs with a two RBI double out to left-center. When Maranatha returned to the plate, Dani Chaney set things into motion with an RBI triple, but unfortunatley was left out on third for the remainder of the inning.

Over the next two innings, the Sabercats had a couple of fielding errors that led to six more runs for the Blue Angels, putting the game out of reach and ending it after five-innings (1-9).

The second game proved to be one of the best played games for the Sabercats since early in their season. Maranatha finished the game in seven innings, which hadn't been done since their first game of the season.

Mount Mary started things off with a couple runs in the first inning which came from two Maranatha errors. But the Sabercats quickly cleaned up their play and went the next six innings without a single fielding error.

Maranatha put themselves on the board at the top of the fourth after a sacrifice fly from Nerat brought Chaney home (3-1 MMU). Despite their lead late in the game, Mount Mary started to grow nervous after Chaney was brought home once more, this time with a single hit out to left-center by Racquelle Kilian. At this point Blue Angles' Coach Clark decided to make some changes in the field, bringing back his starting pitcher.

While the Sabercats quickly got out of the bottom of the sixth, allowing their opponents only one run, they couldn't close the gap at their final at bat. Mount Mary walked away with a 7-2 win in game two.

This doubleheader concluded the 2023 season, after their final scheduled game was called off due to weather. The Sabercats said goodbye to multiple graduating members including: Dani Chaney, Malia Bullock, Bethany Searleand Eryn Bates
