THE STORY

Maranatha built a lead early on and never looked back. Firing on all cylinders, the Sabercats were in control of the tempo from start to finish and outplayed the Eagles in virtually every regard.

In the first half, Sonnenberg led the charge for MBU with 11 points and 5 boards. Justin Blake was close behind with 8 points and 7 rebounds.

At the half, MBU held a commanding lead of 53-29.

Coach Joel Borchardt and the Sabercats held a high press on Dayspring to start the second half. The pressure paid off to the tune of a 13-0 run just a few minutes into the half.

David Lerma broke into double figures in his first career start for the Blue and Gold. Lerma's 15-point effort was followed up with 11 from RJ Medina.

MBU had 6 debutants on the night: Zeke Steuerwald, Clayton Steuerwald, Jonathan Murphy, Brenden Caldwell, Isaac McKee, and Kyle Cummins made their Sabercat debuts in the game.

Clayton Steuerwald, Murphy, and Cummins all recorded points. Murphy's free throw brought the Sabercats to 100 points with just over a minute left.

The Sabercats recorded a couple of high marks in the program record books. MBU had 60 rebounds as a team, which ties the program record for rebounds in a game. MBU's 27-assist mark is tied for second in program history.
