Pride to Play For: Maranatha-Dallas Christian Preview

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- In the first-ever meeting between Maranatha and Dallas Christian, the Sabercats will look to end their season on a high note by capturing 5th-place honors at the NCCAA National Tournament.

To get there, the Sabercats will have to oust the Crusaders of DCC, who boast the third-best scoring offense in the NCCAA DII, registering 89.1 points per game this season. So far this tournament, Maranatha has had to face the best, second-best, and third-best offenses in the NCCAA DII - in that order.

Dallas Christian is also the third and final at-large selection to be competing in the tournament. This matchup means that the Sabercats have faced all 3 at-large selections at nationals this year.

The Crusaders enter the 5th-place game with a 17-10 record, including a 9-4 showing in NCCAA play.

Dallas Christian's danger man is Trey Lindsey, who has averaged a sturdy 17.8 points per game so far this season for the Crusaders. Not far behind Lindsey has been Keldon Williams, who has contributed 15.6 points per game himself.

To get to the National Tournament, the Crusaders were knocked off by Arlington Baptist in the Southwest Region Semifinal, falling to the Patriots by a score of 87-101. At this year's tournament, Dallas Christian lost their opener to Grace Bible College by a 91-77 scoreline before topping Portland Bible College this afternoon, 90-80.

This will be the final game of the season for the Sabercats, whose noteworthy postseason run has secured them a top-6 finish in the NCCAA DII.
