THE LEAD

MILWAUKEE -- Wisconsin Lutheran College handed MBU their worst loss of the season tonight, as the Sabercats could not settle into their game.

The Warriors had control of the game from start to finish, as the Sabercats never led. Jonathan Book led the scoring with 10 points for MBU.

THE STORY

It was all going WLC's way in the first half. The Sabercats fought turnovers throughout the opening exchanges and could only manage 4 points through the opening 15 minutes of the game. Going into the locker room, the Sabercats were in desperate need of answers. Fourteen turnovers and a 7-28 shooting performance had MBU trailing WLC by a score of 17-44.

Maranatha improved in the second half, which yielded a 32-42 scoreline in favor of the hosts. MBU polished their possession and sharpened their shooting, but the deficit was too big to recover from.

Justin Blake scored 8 second-half points to lead MBU. Book added a half-dozen more to up his total to 10 for the night.

THE NUMBERS

Paul Dekker scored his first points for the Blue and Gold, as he knocked down his only shot of the night.

Collin Kennedy's 16 points for WLC led all scorers. WLC had 16 different players record points on the night.

The 17-point half was the Sabercats' lowest tally in a half this season.

The 33.3 percent shooting mark was the Sabercats' second-worst shooting night of the season as well.

After this result, Wisconsin Lutheran holds a 44-15 advantage in the all-time series.

THE SOUND BITE

"We just didn't come ready to play tonight," said Coach Keith Salscheider after the game. "We did not play to our potential or follow the game plan, and we suffered for it. It was probably our worst outing of the year. We've just got to regroup, and turn the page and get ready for Parents' Day on Saturday."

THE OUTLOOK

The Sabercats will have a Parents' Day matchup Saturday against Great Lakes Christian at 3 p.m. MBU leads the series, 13-1.
