THE LEAD

MILWAUKEE -- The Sabercats continued this week's rigorous schedule with another heavy loss, as they fell to the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors in Milwaukee.

The Warriors - who earned the No. 25 spot in the latest D3Hoops.com poll - proved their quality with their shooting. The win was their first after their 17-game winning streak was snapped on Tuesday.

THE STORY

The Sabercats took more shots than the Warriors on the night, but it was the hosts that had more quality chances. Maranatha went 20-61 and 2-15 from downtown while Wisconsin Lutheran shot over 50 percent from the floor and knocked down 13-27 from behind the arc.

Wisconsin Lutheran led from wire to wire and proved to be a deep squad, as they registered 37 points from the bench on the night.

MBU fought throughout the game and out-scored WLC in the third quarter, but with the momentum of a 17-2 record coming into the game, the Warriors proved to be an immovable object.

Kelsey Johnson once again reached double figures, extending that streak to 13 straight games. Alexis Bueltel led MBU with 16 points of her own.

THE NUMBERS

Karley Johnson registered 2 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists.

WLC's Caitlin Knueppel led everyone with 23 points.

The Warriors shot 52.6 percent from the field while MBU went 32.8 percent.

The Warriors now lead the series, 44-14.

THE OUTLOOK

The Sabercats will host Silver Lake College for a 5 p.m. tip-off Saturday night. The Lakers hold a 23-1 advantage in the series, and the last time the Sabercats beat SLC was in 1986.
