LEAD

DUBUQUE, Iowa -- There was no rust to shake off tonight, as the Sabercats posted 105 points against Emmaus Bible College.

It was a total team win, as 13 student-athletes (everyone that played) registered points on the night.

OVERVIEW

  • Result: Maranatha 105-68 Emmaus
  • Venue: Pollard Field House, Emmaus Bible College
  • Location: Dubuque, Iowa
  • Attendance: 314
  • Records: MBU (3-5), EBC (1-7)

STORY

The Sabercats established their dominance right away, mixing it up on offense and hitting their looks throughout the first half. Josh Davis bounced off the bench and hit 10 points, leading the Sabercats to a 61-29 advantage in the first half alone. The Sabercats' secret was in their depth, as 37 of those points came from non-starters, and the team shot 58.8 percent from the floor in the opening half.

Everything was going the Sabercats' way, and the second half yielded little difference. Bryant Sturgill racked up an impressive 14 points, and Taylor Ball led from the front with 15 of his own. All told, the Sabercats had every one of their 13 student-athletes register points, adding another 44 points in the second half to break the century mark for the first time this season.

All in all, it was a total team win and one that the Sabercats will draw from moving forward this season.
