PLYMOUTH, Wis. -- The Sabercats were outmatched this evening at Lakeland University, falling to the feisty Muskies 4-0 on a calm night in Plymouth.

Mike Davis fired two shots on goal for the Sabercats while Ian Balyo made nine saves on the night to limit the Muskies to four goals.

OVERVIEW

  • Result: Maranatha 0-4 Lakeland
  • Venue: Lakeland University - Taylor Field
  • Location: Plymouth, Wis.
  • Attendance: 131
  • Record: MBU (0-2-0), LU (1-0-2)

STORY

The fast-paced Muskies put the Sabercats under pressure right from the start, and when Lakeland smashed in two goals in a span of five minutes, their intentions were clearly communicated. Lakeland added insult to injury with a third goal off a counter-attack in the 39th minute.

Lakeland would rattle off a dozen shots in the first half alone while limiting the Sabercats to just one, so the hosts had a tight grip on the match entering halftime.

Halftime was a chance for the Sabercats to regroup, and they made the most of the second half by playing themselves back into the game. Lakeland scored only once, as a back line anchored by Phillip Holloway and debutant Jamin Beachell limited the hosts' scoring chances.

The loss sends Maranatha into North Region play with two consecutive losses - a trend to reverse at Moody Bible Institute on Saturday.
