Sabercat Trio Named All-Region

MINNEAPOLIS -- The National Christian College Athletic Association has announced their 2022 North Region Men's Soccer All-Region selections, and Braeden Hansel, Aaron Jones, and Joshua Wright have been named among the best in the North.
Hansel and Jones took home 1st-Team honors while Wright was named as an Honorable Mention selection.
Hansel filled the role of lead captain for the Sabercats, playing as a defensive midfielder or a central defender. Hansel compiled a career-high seven goals and seven assists and earned the North Region selection for the second time in his career.
Jones led Maranatha with 10 goals and four assists for a team-leading 24 points on the season. Jones scored seven goals in just a four-game stretch from September 20-October 1 and had a hat-trick against Trinity Bible College on September 23. This was Jones' first all-region honor.
Wright played a support role in the center midfield this season, scoring one goal and adding an assist. Wright scored against Emmaus on October 7 and notched his assist in a 3-0 North Region win over Moody Bible. This was Wright's first all-region honor.
The Sabercats finished their season Wednesday with a disappointing 2-0 loss to North Central University in the first round of the North Region Tournament.
