WATERTOWN, Wis. -- The Sabercats faced some firepower tonight, falling to Concordia-Wisconsin in straight sets.

The loss snaps the Sabercats' four-match winning streak, which is a standing program-record mark for consecutive wins.

STORY

There's no doubt that the Sabercats have improved significantly in just three seasons as an intercollegiate program. And after seeing CUW play tonight, it came as a surprise that the CUW varsity program is just three years old as well.

CUW kept the foot on the gas in the opening stages of the match, keeping the Sabercats' momentum to a minimum. But on the other side of the net, the Sabercats struggled to pass the serve receive, which would end up being a difference-maker in the end. The Falcons would land nine aces on the night, and the Sabercats never really got their momentum started. After posting 21 points in the opening set, the Sabercats stayed below 20 for the rest of the night. James Rossiter led Maranatha with a 10-kill night, but the Sabercats struggled in putting out a balanced team performance.

The main protagonist for the Falcons was James Althoff who ended up with over half of the Falcons' 42 kills on the night, and overall, the Falcons were just too hot to handle.
