Depue Makes it Two

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Joel Depue fueled a dramatic season-ending win on Friday, and it was good enough to earn the nod from the National Christian College Athletic Association.

The junior from Pottstown, Pennsylvania has been named as the NCCAA student-athlete of the week for his stellar play in the Sabercats' lone match last week, marking a celebratory end to his season.

Depue registered 16 kills and 15 digs in the Sabercats' 3-2 win over Graceland University, making him the undisputed "man of the match" in the five-set thriller. Depue registered key kills at key times, throwing Graceland off of their system to shift the momentum at pivotal points in the match.

This marks the second time in the season and the second time in program history that a Sabercat has earned the award, as Taylor Dafoe landed the same honor at the end of January.

The honor comes as a bright spot to an otherwise abrupt and disappointing end to the season. The Sabercats were scheduled to play three more matches but had their season cut short due to the precautions against the spread of COVID-19.
