STORY

WEST ALLIS, Wis. -- It was a successful day all around for the Maranatha cross-country teams. The women's team qualified for Nationals, so they will be joining the men in Joplin, Missouri on November 11th. In other big news, Amber Brungard made Maranatha history as she moved to 10th all-time in MBU 6K history.

Brungard came in first for the lady Sabercats on the day with a time of 26:15 (6K). She placed 29th out of the 112 competing runners. Maranatha finished 7th out of the 10 competing schools, with a 207 point total. Elizabeth Reddeman of Carroll University came in first overall with a time of 22:58 which helped her school in their 54 point 2nd place finish. It was Ripon College that took home the gold, finishing with a total of 30 points. Ripon had three runners finish in the top 5 for the race. 

The Maranatha men's team also had a race to be proud of. 3 of the 7 runners that placed achieved new personal records. Shem Abdnour also qualified individually for nationals, despite the fact that the mens team has already qualified as a whole. The Flying Fopma once again had an incredible race. He crossed the line first for the Sabercats with a time of 26:20 (8K) and placed 5th overall out of the 92 competing runners. The Maranatha men finished 6th out of the 9 competing schools, with an overall 176 points. Carroll University's Spencer Kirsteatter finished first overall, with a total time of 25:34. His school finished second on the day with a point total of 50. The Carroll men fell just 7 points shy of Ripon University, who took home the gold. 3 of their runners placed in the top 10. 

The Sabercats will compete next in the NCCAA Dll North Region Championship on October 22nd. Both teams will then be leaving for Joplin, Missouri in November for Nationals.
