LEAD

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Maranatha fell hard to North Central University after a slow first quarter they could not recover from (72-38 NCU).

For the sixth straight game, Katelyn Brown was the leading scorer for the Sabercats, finishing with 19 points on the night. Kyria Teachout and Sarah Ureke both grabbed eight rebounds a piece.

OVERVIEW

  • Result: Maranatha 38-72 North Central
  • Venue: Clark-Danielson Gymnasium - North Central University
  • Location: Minneapolis, Minn.
  • Attendance: 100
  • Records: MBU (2-4), NCU (3-2)

STORY

The North Central Rams immediately came out in control during the first quarter of tonight's match. They went on a 12-point run before Katelyn Brown was able to put the Sabercats on the board with two points. Unfortunately, those are the only two points Maranatha would see before the first buzzer, sending the Rams into the second quarter with a 20-2 lead.

Maranatha did a better job of sticking with North Central in the next two quarters. In both the second and third quarters, Maranatha scored just three points less than the Rams (15-18 2Q; 10-13 3Q).

But the Sabercats just couldn't seem to catch a break on the night as North Central continued to light it up from beyond the arc. The Rams finished with nine three-pointers, four of which came in the final quarter, contributing to their 72-38 win over Maranatha.
