CHICAGO -- An early Eric Fausto goal was not enough to beat Illinois Tech, who secured their second win over the Sabercats this season.

In a rain-swept 90 minutes, the ambitious Scarlet Hawks netted 2 goals in each half en route to a 4-1 win in the all-AD3I contest. Brandon Bortei-Doku completed a hat-trick to mark the Scarlet Hawks' third consecutive win over the Sabercats.

Fausto got on the scoresheet in the 8th minute, as he tucked away a rebound off of a Nathan Akers shot. The goal was Fausto's third of the season, and the assist from Akers brought him to 13 points on the year.

The Scarlet Hawks responded positively, as Christopher Reed fired a low shot from 22 yards that skipped into the near corner 10 minutes later. Just 50 seconds after Reed's strike, Bortei-Doku fired in his first goal of the night, as he took advantage of some loose Sabercat marking in the box to fire a one-bounce volley from close range off the underside of the crossbar and into the back of the net. The score stood at 2-1 entering halftime.

Bortei-Doku added a tidy third goal in the 64th minute, and Reed got on the scoresheet as an assistant. Reed's pass found Bortei Doku some 30 yards out, and the powerful forward jinked into the right side of the Sabercats' box before burying his effort low into the far corner.

IIT's number 14 went on to complete his hat-trick just 3 minutes from time, as he once again finished a chance from the right side of the box into the corner. Bortei-Doku recorded 5 shots and put 4 on goal en route to his hat-trick.

The Sabercats now stand at 5-7 for the season and will face NCCAA DI opponents Lincoln Christian Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Lincoln, Illinois. Catch the details at mbusabercats.com/composite.
