BELOIT Wis. -- Robert Kile, Madelyn Hansel and Anna Heins finished inside the top 20 at the Olde English Classic - a feat the came with multiple challenges.

The traditional old-English-style course at Beloit's race is anything but straightforward. Dotted with scraggly hay bales, flowing creeks, and various undulations for the runners to navigate, the old-school layout is a rugged test of both body and will.

But these obstacles were not the only challenges the runners had to face today. Temperatures climbed into the 90's and the humidity climbed with the temperature. These sultry conditions combined with the obstacles to make each race exceptionally difficult.

Despite the odds, Kile, Hansel and Heins all posted top-20 finishes, but - as expected - the Sabercats' times increased across the board, as each runner's final time reflected the arduous task of completing the old-style course.

Coach Isaiah Steinbart recognized the difficulty of the day and sees a positive takeaway, especially with the NCCAA National Championships in mind. "I was excited to see all of the hard work that the runners put in this past week pay off at the meet this week," said Steinbart. "[It was] great to see the runners win the mental battle that they faced with the hot and humid conditions which I believe will help us out when we race at Nationals."

The Sabercats' next meet will be next Saturday at the Warrior Invitational hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College at Greenfield Park in West Allis, Wisconsin. Catch details of the event at mbusabercats.com/composite.
