LEAD

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Sabercats had their hands full at Indiana Tech today, conceding a sweep to an NAIA-Top-25 opponent for the second weekend in a row.

Tech put down 38 kills in the three-set match, earning 49 points out of a possible 75 while attacking at .351 percent. Maranatha was forced into attacking in red numbers, taking another sweep at a talented Indiana opponent.

OVERVIEW

  • Result: Maranatha 0-3 No. 9 Indiana Tech (10-25, 15-25, 16-25)
  • Venue: Schaefer Center, Indiana Institute of Technology
  • Location: Fort Wayne, Ind.
  • Attendance: --
  • Records: Maranatha (1-9), Indiana Tech (12-2)

STORY

Maranatha struggled to connect their swings in the first set, posting 13 attack errors to left the Warriors to a 25-10 win. The good news? Maranatha cleaned that up in the second set, posting just two miscues. The bad news? Tech slammed down 19 kills in the second set alone to take a two-set advantage with authority.

From there, the Warriors cruised to the finish, posting a 25-16 win in the final set to complete the sweep. Isaac McKee (6 kills, 2 blocks, 2 digs), Taylor Dafoe (13 assists, 5 digs), and Steve Wagner (24 serve receptions, 1 reception error) put some polished performances together, but Tech was just too much to handle on their home floor.
