CHICAGO -- Maranatha faced another ranked NAIA opponent today, falling to No. 11 St. Xavier in straight sets.
The Cougars put down 43 kills in the match while holding the Sabercats to just 15 on the day. Phillip Holbrook led Maranatha with 6 kills.

STORY
After putting down 14 kills in the first set, the Cougars attacked at better than a 50-percent clip in the second. Mitchell Seggerman did the most damage for SXU with 12 kills and just one error on the day.
The hosts limited Maranatha to just 26 points in the first two frames combined before closing out the match with a 25-15 win in the final set. Overall SXU continued their recent home dominance - this was their 10th straight home win in 2021.
