THE STORY

MINNEAPOLIS -- Sabercats Softball won their long-awaited first game back in a wild 10-9 win at North Central University today. The two teams then played until the third inning before running out of daylight in the second game of the doubleheader. North Central is winning 15-9.

The two teams will resume game two tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. before going on to complete their second scheduled doubleheader. All games tomorrow will only last five innings.

All the hard work indoors paid off for the Sabercats and Erin Yanceywho held the Rams hitless through the first five innings. Dani Chaney and Taylor Thome provided some pop at the plate with a double apiece, and Yancey struck out the final batter of the game to mark her eighth strikeout.

Overall, the six weeks of indoor practices and riding the uncertainty of the 2021 season had paid off on opening day, and the Sabercats are 1-0 to start the 2021 season.
