Thome Makes History

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- After earning NCCAA All-Region honors earlier this month, Taylor Thome has made Maranatha Softball program history by becoming its first-ever All-American in the National Christian College Athletic Association.*

The NCCAA named Thome today as a 3rd-Team selection, as she joins 9 other student-athletes on the 3rd Team and 30 on the All-American listings.

Thome earns the award as she finishes a four-year career that consisted of just two seasons. She batted .363 while logging 124 at-bats, 45 hits, 10 doubles, and 21 runs. Thome recorded four triples and a home run while holding a .832 fielding percentage at shortstop.

This season, Thome compiled a .706 slugging percentage, which was the 8th-highest mark in NCCAA Softball. Head Coach Rob Thompson recently named Thome as a Coach's Award recipient at the Winter/Spring Athletic Awards Assembly at Maranatha.

"This is a great accomplishment and honor for Taylor," said Coach Rob Thompson. "We are very proud of her contributions to MBU Softball! We will miss her enthusiasm and leadership on the team!"
