STORY

For their fourth straight match, Maranatha has gotten the job done on the front line. Last Friday against Mount Mary the Sabercats finished with a .289 hitting percentage, attacking 97 times with a total of 38 kills. Arielle Henkel had a stand out performance, earning points off of 14 of her 19 attacks, giving her a .737 hitting percentage on the night.

The Blue Angels seemed to struggle in this area on the night, with only 25 kills and a hitting percentage of .050. Mount Mary's lack of success on the front line was a primary factor in their sweeping loss, as they gave up 20 points to the Sabercats in hitting errors.

The match started out with two hitting errors from Mount Mary followed by a set of kills from Emily Johnson and A. Henkel, giving the Sabercats a 4-0 lead. Maranatha had control for the majority of the set, until the Blue Angels went on a five-point run late in the set, bringing Maranatha's lead to just one point (23-22). But Tessa Hinze and A. Henkel decided that was as close as Mount Mary was going to get, as they each put down a kill to win set one.

Things got ugly for Mount Mary in the second set as their errors outweighed their successes on the hitting line. They finished with only five kills and eight errors compared to the Sabercats 12 kills and four errors. Maranatha took set two easily by a score of 25-9.

The Blue Angels did slightly better in the third set, but Maranatha was just on fire. The Sabercats finished with only 10 hitting errors on the night, never getting above four in a single set. Tessa Hinze finished things with a kill for her team, ending the match with a 25-18 win in set three.
