THE LEAD

WATERTOWN, Wis. -- Harmony Bailey recorded her second career home run as the Sabercats were swept away by the Finlandia University Lions today.

These were the first games that the Sabercats have played since the end of March.

THE STORY

After the Lions scored 6 runs in their first at-bat, Bailey recorded the Sabercats' only hit of the game, and she did it with style, launching a solo shot to right-center field for her first home run of the season.

For Maranatha, that was the only runner to even reach first base, however, as the Lions' Kassandra Avila showed her strength in the circle. Avila pitched a 1-hitter to record her 10th win this season, and the Lions scored at least a run in all 5 innings, ending the game early due to the run rule.

-----

In the second game of the day, Finlandia picked up right where they left off. After scoring 3 runs in the top of the first inning, Finlandia chalked up 13 runs in the second inning alone.

MBU's answer came in the bottom of the fourth inning when Taylor Thome and Joylynn Molencupp recorded back-to-back RBI singles. But the 3-run, 4-hit effort was not enough for the Sabercats to get the result at Brandt-Quirk Park, as the second game ended after 5 innings.

THE STATS

Bailey was the only Sabercat to record a hit in both games.

The 2 teams have now met 4 times this season. Finlandia has won every game.

Bailey now has recorded a hit in 6 games this season. Her season total is 10 hits.

THE CALENDAR

The Sabercats will stay at home Thursday to face Rockford University in a 3 p.m. doubleheader. Follow stats live at mbusabercats.com/composite.
