THE LEAD

WATERTOWN, Wis. – Mount Mary University and Adrianna Nester brought their A game to Watertown, picking up a sweep of the doubleheader over MBU under the lights at Brandt-Quirk Park.

Taylor Thome recorded four hits and an RBI on the day, and she ruined Nester's perfect game in the final inning of game two.

THE STORY

The Blue Angels came on strong in game one, as they had six runners cross the plate in the top of the first frame. They then followed it up with another three runs in the top of the third.

Through the first two frames, the Sabercats had trouble generating anything off of Hannah Harnsberger, who proved her worth in the circle. The sophomore would go on to win her first game of the season, making it the ninth win of her career.

The Sabercats had to wait until the third inning to post anything on the scoreboard. Maisy Alldredge got things started by whacking a double to left-center, and just a few batters later, Harmony Bailey stepped up to the plate with the bases packed and two outs. The Yooper made no mistake, as she knocked a single into right to bring home two runs.

Tina Kolinski thumped a triple to right-center in the fifth inning. That was the senior's fifth career triple, and she was brought home via an RBI single from Megan Rasmussen one batter later.

After a five-run top of the sixth for the visitors, Maranatha needed an 11-run comeback to extend the game. Thome recorded her third hit of the day to bring home Janae Jorgensen, who had just doubled to left field, but that one run was all the Sabercats could manage in the bottom of the sixth. After six, the game ended 14-4 in favor of Mount Mary.

---

Mount Mary's offense was good in the second game, but Adrianna Nester was even better. The sophomore brought her best stuff to the circle, as she fanned six MBU batters through the first three innings en route to tossing the one-hit shutout.

Behind Nester's ace performance, Mount Mary chipped away on offense, scoring at least one run in each of their five at-bats. Thome broke Nester's heart in the bottom of the fifth by hitting a line-drive single into center.

Nester would go on to pick up her fifth career win in style, and Mount Mary swept the series by winning the second game by a perfect 10-0.
