WATERTOWN , Wis. -- One goal was all the difference today, as the Sabercats lost a close-cut fight to Faith Baptist, 1-0, on a freezing parents' day on the MBU Campus.

The win made it a sweep of the season series for Faith, and both teams used this as a tuneup for their respective upcoming NCCAA regional tournaments.

OVERVIEW

  • Result: Maranatha 0-1 Faith
  • Venue: Maranatha Baptist University
  • Location: Watertown, Wis.
  • Attendance: 152
  • Record: MBU (4-9-0), FBBC (5-5-2)

STORY

The game was up for grabs from the opening whistle, as both teams tried to penetrate into the box to score the opener. Faith's breakthrough came in the 24th minute, when Eliana Fritz hit a high shot from outside the box to open the scoring.

That goal made all the difference for Faith, who held on until the final whistle in a game that was more of a defensive battle than anything else. Amelia Schroeder had four of the Sabercats' five shots, firing all four on frame, but it wasn't enough to break into the scoring.

After a windy, freezing 90 minutes, the Eagles had retained the lead, swept the season series, and completed a shutout win over MBU.
