WATERTOWN, Wis. -- In a chilly preview of the 2023 NCCAA Midwest Region Championship, the Sabercats lost steam early and fell 5-0 to the third-ranked Great Lakes Crusaders in Watertown this afternoon.

The two teams will reconvene on the MBU campus next Saturday at 12:30 p.m., with the winner punching their ticket to the 2023 NCCAA DII National Tournament.

STORY

Great Lakes wasted no time in getting on the scoresheet, as they scored twice in the opening 10 minutes. Great Lakes added one more in the first half before scoring twice in the second for a stress-free win. Allie Ferrall (two goals) and Avery Carr (one goal and one assist) were the primary threats for Great Lakes.

Chloe Dodd had a busy day in goal, making 11 saves to limit the damage from the Crusaders.

This was the first NCCAA match of the season for the two schools, and the first of one Midwest Region matchup for the regular season.
