WATERTOWN, Wis. -- The Sabercat defense had a tough day against the high-powered offense of Ripon as they lost to the Red Hawks 6-1. Aaron Jones scored his second goal of the season in the loss.

STORY

The Maranatha-Ripon game is always closely contested, so it was no surprise to see the game remain scoreless for the first twenty minutes of play with Maranatha and Ripon each making great runs toward the net that ended without a goal. Unfortunately, that changed in the twentieth minute when was able to sneak a goal through the Sabercat defense to take a 1-0 lead. Fifteen minutes later, they would add a second goal, which would give them a 2-0 lead headed into halftime.

When the second half began, the Sabercats did not have the same energy they had to begin the game, and Ripon took advantage by scoring another goal just a few minutes into the half. Two minutes later, Aaron Jones took the ball around midfield and dribbled through the defense himself, eventually breaking away and making a nice left-footed shot into the right side of the net to put Maranatha on the board. Ripon responded by scoring three more unanswered goals throughout the half, and Ripon took the first contest between the two schools since 2019.
