LA CROSSE, Wis. -- For the second time this season, the Sabercats have lost 11-0 to one of the hottest teams in the NAIA, Viterbo University.

The loss is the final game of the regular season for the Sabercats, who await their seeding for next weekend's NCCAA North Region Tournament.

OVERVIEW

  • Result: Maranatha 0-11 Viterbo
  • Venue: Outdoor Athletics Complex, Viterbo University
  • Location: La Crosse, Wis.
  • Attendance: 31
  • Record: MBU (5-9-0), Viterbo (13-0-1)

STORY

Viterbo scored in the fourth minute, but the floodgates opened for the hosts about 22 minutes in, when they scored three goals in a five-minute stretch. Viterbo added one more before the break to take a halftime lead of 5-0, and they added their 11th of the day with just 40 seconds left in the game - a cruel irony for the hard-working Sabercats.

Brad Brock notched 15 minutes between the sticks and made two diving saves for Maranatha. Other significant contributors were Andrew Wright and Joshua Meals. Aaron Jones and Mike Davis stepped up to play in the midfield, with Davis logging his first 90-minute shift of the season.
