ASHLAND, Wis. -- On a cool night up north, the Northland College Lumberjacks outworked and outgunned the Sabercats, who took a hard 7-0 loss in their second away game of the season.

The Sabercats will turn their attention to their home field and Ripon College for a 4:00 kickoff on Tuesday afternoon.

STORY

A vocal crowd bolstered the Northland efforts early on, and a goal barrage around the 30-minute mark was too much for the Sabercats to handle, as Northland scored four goals in a five-minute span with some dangerous crosses and shots in the Sabercats' box.

Northland added one more goal before the halftime break, and the referee's halftime whistle heralded more of a respite than anything else for the Sabercats' halftime break.

The second half was quieter than the first for Northland in terms of their scoring. The Jacks conjured up just two goals in the opening five minutes of the half, and that was the only damage the Jacks could inflict for the remainder of the game.

Chase Mixell had the Sabercats' best chance at the other end, but the freshman's 25-yard shot was shrewdly stopped with a diving save from the Northland goalkeeper.

The Sabercats' search for their first win of the season will continue on Tuesday at home against Ripon, as the Blue and Gold continue a difficult schedule in the early weeks of the season.
